This is the last of the fall tournaments. All these kids have been working with Chris Marshall for the past 10 weeks. This tournament (like Brick) is another in the Shore Wrestling series. Very Tough.
Aaron Flitcroft: is showing great improvement and wrestled smart in two tough matches to take 1st place.
Chase Champi: Had two tough matches, and in his third match was on track to beat the kid that took first place when he hurt his wrist with only seconds left in the third period.
Luke Tappen: beat all three of his opponents, to take first place.
Other participants:
Jake Tappen, Davin Tranfield, Erin Tranfield,
Juann Williams: Wrestled HS division and wrestled extremely well. Won his first on a fall! Hung in his second match (even though he was outmatched) and lost his third by only one point in a match that he could have won. Juann was the hero of the day! He is ready to take a step up in a big way and showed heart in all three matches. He is to be commended for all he has done in the past year and today his hard work and dedication (and great manner) shined.
He got a HUGE congratulations from Dan Collins (who was there with an equal number of Randolph kids) for going out on the mat against HS kids during the past three tournaments.
Chris Forte: Wrestled great in his first match and lost a nail biter 2-0 to a tough PA wrestler that was shocked that it was so close. Chris lost his second match.
Darren Rabinowitz: Wrestled a PA kid in his first match and lost. In his second match he wrestled another nail biter but came up short 5-3 on a controversial "backpoint" call. He wrestled Kevin Collins from Randolph in his third match and lost. Kevin took first.
Desmond Towns: Wrestled a kid from the Rhino Club that he lost to last week 5-1. Today Des put everything together and beat him today 4-2. Des had a takedown in the first period that took this kid 4 feet off the ground. The was stunned and was never in the match from that point on. He got a forfeit in the second match and took first.
Chris Forte, Darren R, Des and Juann ended their off-season wrestling today that started in March 2006. All of them have done other sports and have been busy with other things in their lives, but wrestling remains as their top interest. These 4 kids have shown great enthusiasm and have wrestled in 10 off season tournaments together, putting in countless hours at practices preparing for competition and always making sure their weight is in check for weigh-ins.
We wish them and all of the Grapplers the best of luck in 2006-2007!
