Morristown placed 6th out of 15 teams. We had one champion, Dylan Allison, who avenged his second place finish last year at North Jersey. He made his coaches and teammates proud by never giving up in his finals match and holding off a very fierce competitor.
Congratulations to Dylan and the Allison family. We had three wrestlers that took second place:Frank Crippen, who wrestled tough throughout the tournament.Kurt Ferdenzi, who came up against an extremely talented wrestler, Mike Amada who pinned Kurt 3 weeks earlier, but this time it was not going to happen. Kurt held in there and wrestled tough for three periods. We are all very proud of Kurt and his great determination. Juann Williams, our other finalist had a great tournament but met his match in the finals. Juann will be at MHS next year and we look forward to great things from him. Kurt, Frank and Dylan will all be returning as Tri County wrestlers next year. Our other wrestlers that placed in the top 6 were:

| Grapplers Bring Home 12 Medals @ Madison Novice Tournament |
Editor's Note: This was taken from an email written by Coach Mike O'Neill.
Morristown had 24 participants - all got 2 matches and some got 3
We had a total of 28 wins, and 25 losses
- 3 wrestlers finished 1st
- 1 finished 2nd
- 4 finished 3rd
- 4 finished 4th
For many, this was their first tournament. Morristown had a handful of 2nd
year wrestlers in attendance, but the majority were 1st year wrestlers. I
want to make sure that I stress the fact that for most wrestlers, their 1st
match in their 1st tournament is a very scary experience, no matter what the
age or skill level. We use the Madison tournament for purpose of
introducing our 1st year wrestlers to this experience, most 1st time
tournament wrestlers will lose a match, typically their 1st match and then
go on to wrestle much better and perform closer to their individual standard
in the 2nd match. Yesterday this held to form. As coaches, we were very
happy with what we saw, kids executed moves, behaved well and appeared to
have a great time. |
