Rabinowitz
Takes 2nd @ Maryland Open
Editor's
Note: The following is taken from an email sent by Mo-Town Grapplers
President Paul Rabinowitz, who of course is Darren's dad.
Darren
Rabinowitz recently took 2nd Place at the Patriot Open held in
Millersville, Maryland. The tournament was run by the Central
Maryland Wrestling, which is one of the newer Maryland clubs.
Darren
won his first match and then wrestled well against his next
opponent, from the Central Maryland club. Darren has learned
a lot about his mistakes from video analysis, and as a result
prevented his opponent from escaping and rode him out for the
entire second period (something that he had trouble doing during
the season with the taller kids). Darren won this match 7-2.
In
the finals for first place, he wrestled an 8th grader that placed
second at the Maryland States and is currently being recruited
by the top private school in Maryland. Darren gave up the takedown
in the first period so had to battle back. He hit a successful
Granby roll in the third period, but in the end he came up short
4-3.
Overall
it was a great experience and he felt good about taking second.
